The first step is discussing client needs. What does the student need to meet programmatic expectations? What benchmarks does the school have? Can EP&C provide the right services? Is the student willing to engage in this process? We start by having a team meeting with school representatives and a free one on one meeting with the student before agreeing upon a SOW contract and tailoring the coaching package to your needs.

This package establishes a formal relationship between EP&C and your program so that we can deliver support when it is needed. Programs pre-pay for a small amount of hours with a predefined scope of engagement. EP&C will outreach to students within 72 hours of requests. Unused hours are refunded at the end of the agreement.

This may be most helpful for students who have been identified as struggling in professional communication or psychosocial aspects of the curriculum. This package provides additional individual coaching and opportunities to practice interpersonal communication skills. This package may be most effective when paired with courses which rely on standardized patients to assess the student’s ability to develop rapport, communicate challenging or technical information, demonstrate emotional awareness, and/or engage with other health professions.

This package is designed for students who recently failed a clinical experience due to professional, communication, or psychosocial deficiencies. This package includes collaborative development of formal Practice Improvement Plans (PIP) and identification of professional development goals. The student’s PIP can be mapped to school’s curriculum or assessment maps.

We can extend the coaching relationship for a stated period of time with regular and periodic check-ins to ensure sustained success. This is not a stand-alone service, but can be added on to an already established coaching relationship. The frequency and amount of work can be adjusted to reflect anticipated student needs. It is expected that the frequency and intensity of coaching decreases with time.

We answer the questions, “What has helped this student in the past?” and “What should I do for this student?”

Our goal is to create downstream student success. With this in mind, we are willing to share what coaches determine works well for this student to preceptors and faculty if desired. Direct preceptor support can be provided as well for an additional fee.

We provide a coaching log and summary of student success for each student. Schools may uses these for internal tracking of student progress, evidence of individualized student remediation, and/or completion of agreed upon SOW by EP&C.
